Ezra Dictation is a small application for Mac and Windows. Hold one key, speak Amharic, let go — and the words arrive where your cursor already was.

Hold right Ctrl, speak, and let go. It listens only while the key is down.
Install on WindowsWindows 11. One file for both Intel and Arm machines — Windows picks. It is signed, so there is no blue panel to click through.
How it works
The text lands where the machine lets you type — a message box, a document, a browser field.
It signs in with an Ezra account before it will do anything.
What leaves your machine
Speech is transcribed on a server, not on your machine — there is no model on the computer. What is sent is the recording you made while the key was down, and only then. What you type on a keyboard is not sent at all.
The privacy page is where the whole of it is written down.
It updates itself
Each build checks the address it was installed from for a newer one. Neither comes from a store, and neither needs one.
If something goes wrong
Tell us what you were doing and what happened. Nothing you spoke needs to come with it.
