What this site keeps

Short version: nothing you type is ever sent anywhere. If you make an account, this site keeps your email address and the scores of your finished tests. Everything below is the long version, and there is nothing in it that is not on this page.

ግላዊነት

What never leaves your device

The typing drill, the transliteration tool and the calendar converter all run entirely in your browser. The matcher behind the first two is Ezra’s own engine compiled to WebAssembly and fetched once; after that there is no request. So the words you type, the keys you press and the text you paste are never transmitted, never logged and never seen by anyone — not by this site, and not by anything it uses.

That is not a policy that could be changed quietly. It is a property of how the pages are built, and it is checkable: open your browser’s network panel and type.

What your browser keeps, with no account

Finishing a timed test writes its score to your browser’s local storage, on your machine. That is the primary copy and it works whether or not you have an account. Nothing is sent when it is written. Clearing your site data removes it, and nobody else can read it.

Who else handles any of it

Every company this site relies on, what they do, and what they see. There are no others.

  • Renderhosts the site and, if you make an account, the database it lives in. Like any host, Render records the requests its servers answer.
  • Google Adsmeasures whether an advert led to a download or a sign-up. It sets cookies and sees the pages you visit on this site. It is never sent your email address.
  • PostHogcounts page views and which tools get used. Requests go through this site's own domain rather than PostHog's, which is a first-party arrangement, not an anonymous one.
  • Formspreereceives the address you leave on the converter waiting list, and nothing else.

Your IP address is used, in memory and hashed, to stop one machine from flooding the server with requests. It is not written to the database and is not attached to your account. Render keeps its own request logs, as every host does.

Cookies

This site sets no cookie of its own. The measurement services named above set their own; those are the ones a blocker or a browser setting will stop, and nothing on this site breaks when they are stopped.

There is no cookie banner, because the site does not need consent for the sign-in cookie and does not want to pretend the rest is a choice it made for you.

Children

This site is for anyone learning to type Amharic, which includes children. It does not ask for an age and does not profile anyone. An account requires a Google account, and Google enforces its own minimum age.

Changes, and how to ask

This page is generated from the site’s own code — which processors are named depends on which are switched on, and the list of what a test contains is the same constant the code sends. It cannot fall out of date without the build failing.
