Terms of use

This site is a set of pages about typing Amharic and a few tools that do it: a transliteration box, a calendar converter and a typing drill. All of them are free. There is no charge, no trial that ends, no licence key and nothing behind a paywall.

You do not need an account to use any of them. The tools run in your browser, so using them is not a transaction with anyone — you open a page and it works, and it works the same for a reader who has blocked half of it or arrived with scripting off.

Nothing you type into any of them is collected. The privacy page is the one document that says what this site does and does not keep, and it is written from the same code that decides it. This page does not restate any of that, because two accounts of one payload are two things that can disagree.

The Amharic these tools produce is yours, unconditionally. Ezra claims no ownership of it and puts no condition on what you do with it: publish it, print it, sell it, put it in something you charge for. The same goes for a date you look up. No attribution is asked for and none is required.

That is not generosity so much as the only honest reading of how these pages work. The text never reaches this site in the first place — it is produced on your machine, by code your browser already fetched — so there is nothing here for anyone to have a claim over.

The Ezra keyboard for Windows is not released. There is no installer to download and no beta to join. When it is published it will be free, for anything — personal work, paid work, a whole office — with no licence key and no account, and the terms on this page will cover it.

Anything specific to the installer beyond that — what it may be redistributed under, and whether its source is published — is not decided yet. This page will say when it is, rather than saying something now that would have to be taken back.

An account is optional and does one thing: it carries the scores of your finished typing tests between browsers and machines. Nothing else on this site needs one, and nothing is withheld from you for not having one.

You can take everything on it away as a file, and you can delete it, both from your progress page. Deleting is immediate and it is complete. What an account holds is set out on the privacy page, field by field.

The adverts on these pages are served by Google AdSense. Ezra does not pick them, does not see them before you do and does not vouch for them.

So if you follow one, what happens next is between you and that advertiser: their terms, their prices, their promises, and their problem if it goes wrong. Nothing you buy from an advert is bought from Ezra. Blocking adverts costs you nothing here — every tool on this site works the same either way.

Nothing. These tools are offered as they are, and they are free, so there is no promise that they will be correct, available, or right for what you need them for.

That is a plainer sentence than most sites write, and it is not a trick — it is what being given something for nothing means. It is also not an excuse to be careless: the claims this site makes about keystrokes, dates and letters are checked by the build rather than asserted, which is a stronger habit than a warranty and a weaker thing than a guarantee. Where the result matters, check it before you rely on it.

These terms change by this page changing, and the change reaches you when the site is next deployed. There is no separate notice and there cannot be one: no email is sent from this site at all — there is no sender configured — so nothing exists that could tell you.

What is on this page is what applies. The only way to know it has moved is to read it again, which takes a couple of minutes, and which is why it is this short.
